CV

Biography. Jakob Steinkellner, born in Linz in 1995, has been passionate about music since the age of six. He began learning the accordion at the Upper Austrian State Music School. In 2009, at the age of 14, he passed the entrance exam for the "Basic Artistic Studies" in accordion at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, which he continued with his studies. At the same time, he began his journey on the Styrian accordion.

In 2014, Steinkellner graduated from the Adalbert Stifter Gymnasium in Linz with a degree in music. He then completed his Austrian community service at the Institute for Music Therapy at the Diakoniewerk Gallneukirchen. His areas of expertise included leading inclusive ensembles, providing individual support for people with disabilities, and providing early musical education for inclusive kindergarten groups.

From 2015, Steinkellner studied the bachelor's programs "IGP Accordion" and "Concert Accordion" at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz under Prof. Alfred Melichar. In 2018, he skipped a year of study in both majors and graduated with honors. In addition to his regular studies, Jakob Steinkellner completed the specializations "Styrian Harmonica" and "Making Music with People with Disabilities." From 2018 to 2020, he studied these majors in his master's program, which he also graduated with honors.

Pedagogical career: Jakob Steinkellner has been teaching at music schools in Upper and Lower Austria since 2018. Until 2023, he lectured at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts and headed the folk music program.

Steinkellner has been invited as a guest lecturer to the National Conservatory of Music in Lima (Peru), the Music Academy in Ayacucho (Peru), the Instituto Superior de Música in Cusco (Peru), the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), the University of Culture and Arts in Da Nang (Vietnam), the National Academy of Music Vietnam in Hanoi (Vietnam), the Junior High School of Kawaguchikokita (Japan), the Music Academy in Tunis (Tunisia), the Association Les Solistes in Tunis (Tunisia) and the University Santo Tomas in Manila (Philippines).

In the following year, in 2021, Steinkellner and the formation "Lizard - Linzer Ensemble für aktuelle Musik" were honored in the EXTRA 2021 funding program by the State of Upper Austria and KUPF OÖ for initiative art projects promoting a vibrant cultural life after the coronavirus crisis.
